A multiplexing device for the solar plants

As we all know that at present time everyone’s focus is to utilize renewable sources as much as possible. Even the government of India is trying to aware the people about non conventional sources of energy so that we can save our conventional sources which are extincting day by day. We all know that conventional sources include petroleum fuels like coal. Reports say that if the extraction of the coal will be continued to the present extent then it will get diminished soon. Therefore, the prime minister himself gets involved in this matter and trying to spread awareness for the renewable energy.

When it comes to renewable energy, the first thing comes to our mind is solar, wind and hydro energy. Because these are the only sources that are easily available everywhere. Although these sources have many advantages but there is one major disadvantage with wind and hydro. It is that they are not available everywhere. We can install a wind energy plant only where latitudes and longitudes are in our favor and where the wind speed is greater than 6 m/s which are not possible on each and every place. Same condition is applied with hydro energy also; we can install it only near the water body. But if we talk about solar energy, sun is present everywhere. Thus, solar energy is the most preferable one. 


Solar plants are installed in thousands of megawatts with a large number of solar panels on acres of land. Our prime minister target is to generate 125GW energy through solar by the year 2020. All these solar panels are connected together in order to generate electricity in megawatts and are incorporated with huge capital investment. Thus, they require an utter safety measures for better working and better life. When a number of panels are connected together, there is n number of output strings. In order to make the whole system free of hindrances and confusion, we need to combine these strings and to convert it into single output without shorting them. For this purpose Array junction boxes our used. It behaves as a multiplexer which combines all the strings and transforms it into single output. 

These highly functional solar array junction boxes are designed with the upcoming technology. They are meant for combining all the incoming strings into one common string. It consist of a DC switch disconnector or a fuse disconnect or on the output side. They are also equipped with surge protection devices to protect the solar plant from unusual transients.
